Story

Access to reliable internet remains one of the biggest barriers to education in remote regions. The SkyLink Project, led by a group of aerospace and computer engineering students, aims to change that.

They are designing miniaturized CubeSat-based satellites capable of providing low-bandwidth, high-reliability internet suitable for online learning, communication, and educational resource delivery.

Unlike commercial satellites, SkyLink’s model focuses on education-only connectivity — allowing schools and students in developing areas to access cloud-based lessons, e-books, and academic content free of charge.

Funds will be used to:

  • Build and test two prototype nanosatellites for university research validation.

  • Develop a custom low-power receiver module for remote devices.

  • Partner with NGOs to identify pilot schools in Africa, India, and Latin America.

This project embodies the spirit of student innovation — merging aerospace technology with social good.
