GreenDorm – Sustainable Living Pods for Students
Story
University housing is becoming increasingly expensive, and sustainability is often overlooked in student life. The GreenDorm Initiative is tackling both problems head-on.
A multidisciplinary team of architecture and environmental design students is developing modular dorm units that are self-sufficient, solar-powered, and affordable to build.
Each pod includes solar roofing, greywater recycling, and 3D-printed furniture made from recycled plastic.
Their vision is to pilot these micro-dorm communities in campuses that promote sustainable student living, while reducing both rent costs and environmental footprint.
Funds raised will go toward:
-
Material prototyping and sustainability testing.
-
Solar and energy efficiency certification.
-
Collaboration with universities to install first two pilot pods.
By backing GreenDorm, donors aren’t just supporting a project — they’re investing in the future of sustainable campus infrastructure.
